As a Hobby breeder who breeds Pomeranians it is a passion to produce the best pups. Often litters are planned a year or more in advance, sometimes waiting to see if a potential puppy will grow out as expected and be ideal for pairing with something one may have. Many factors can influence the outcome of a breeding pair. You must consider genetic factors, study the backgrounds of the parents, know how past Pomeranians in the pedigree have influenced the overall Pomeranian you are looking at today and making the best match when considering a sire and dam for a litter of puppies.

We breed to the AKC standard producing puppies from 3 to 7 lbs. Most of our puppies as adults will be around 5lbs. Of course there is always the exception. We may have a larger puppy outside the standard and possibly under the 3lb limit. I have not found this to be common. We cannot predict with 100% accuracy what we will get. It is a scientific evaluation of the breeding pairs pedigree...and what we are looking at today.

Before deciding to sell a pom puppy I usually wait until they are 3 months old. This is a good time to decide which one if any I will keep for myself. At 6 months and again around 9 months I will look at those same puppies I kept back and decide then if any will be as promising as they looked at 3 months. A promising puppy (Show) prospect usually if its going to happen will fall apart somewhere in this time and I will place those as a pet. When I do breed for puppies I am looking for something specific in that breeding that will compliment my breeding program.

Please feel free to read on the AKC standard the information through the American Kennel Club. This information is an accurate description of this beautiful and wonderful breed. Even though we may use the term teacup, miniature, tiny it is only a term. This seems to be the term most are familiar with. Pomeranians are a toy breed and therefore nothing more. Education on the Pomeranian breed will help you in finding a breeder who breeds for the correct size. Knowledge is power! Please do your homework. It may save you a lot of heartache later.

Pomeranians are a Toy Group breed; AKC recognized this breed in 1888.

Ranging in size from 3 to 7 pounds, with the ideal weight for the show specimen being 4 to 6 pounds.
